How does PQQ compare to other antioxidant products

Japanese biologists Kei Owada, Hironobu Takeda, and Makiko mentioned in the paper "PQQ Prevents Cognitive Defects Caused by Oxidative Stress in Rats" that vitamin E and CoQ 10 have been shown to improve learning in mice.

Therefore, in order to study that PQQ may improve the cognitive deficits caused by oxidative stress, the rats were divided into three groups and fed PQQ, CoQ 10 and (PQQ + CoQ 10) respectively. The learning function of the rats was observed and found that in the early stage of the experiment, phase, the average learning rate was significantly higher in rats fed a diet supplemented with PQQ. CoQ10 did not improve learning function in rats, so no synergistic effect was observed with simultaneous supplementation of PQQ and CoQ10. Later in the trial, mice fed diets supplemented with PQQ, CoQ10, and (PQQ + CoQ10) showed higher learning rates than control mice. However, the efficacy of the supplements did not show significant differences. From these results, PQQ may be more effective than CoQ10 itself in improving the learning ability of rats using spatial cognition.

As we all know, vitamin E plays an antioxidant role in the human body by synergizing with other antioxidants. In order to test whether the effectiveness of PQQ in improving cognitive ability is the result of synergy with vitamin E, experts supplemented PQQ and coenzyme Q10 in rats lacking vitamin E, and then evaluated the health status of the rats. The test results showed that although the learning ability of rats lacking vitamin E was poor, after supplementing PQQ and coenzyme Q10, their learning efficiency was improved, and the learning efficiency was the same as that of rats supplemented with vitamin E and PQQ or coenzyme Q10. similar. Therefore, the results prove that PQQ does not have a synergistic effect with vitamin E in improving cognitive function.

In order to test that PQQ can also improve cognitive deficits in rats caused by hyperoxia, some rats lacking vitamin E were treated with hyperoxia and supplemented with PQQ, Co Q10 and PQQ+Co Q10, and then observed. When rats lacking vitamin E were placed in a hyperoxic state, their memory deteriorated further, but PQQ was found to be much better than coenzyme Q10 in restoring memory function in mice. Therefore, PQQ can also improve cognitive deficits in rats caused by hyperoxia.

A series of test results showed that although the simultaneous intake of PQQ and CoQ 10 did not improve the learning ability of rats, it improved the damage of memory function in mice, thus indicating that PQQ synergistically inhibits oxidative stress caused by CoQ 10 through its antioxidant effect. memory function impairment. Therefore, PQQ may have antioxidant effects that prevent oxidative damage to the nervous system and thereby maintain its cognitive function.
